This painting was hard to execute because it brought back the painful memory of saying good-bye. I wanted to show the harsh reality of what this moment is all about. In the background you see the light from the entrance of the doorway shining through and on the wall you see newspaper clippings of various headlines.
These headlines are things you once saw in the paper and in five minutes you are about to experience it. Some of the words in the collage also express the final thoughts running through your head. This painting is not just about saying good bye but about encountering fear and trying to cope with that along with the pain of saying “good-bye”.
