Calliope - 03/13/2010 on writing: part two: rambling notes...
Tangled in eternity, this moment is mine, and I will have it, if it takes all decade to get it. Wabbit season, duck season, wabbit season, wabbit season, duck season, fire! You're despicable. Under the storm clouds and over the boss, on stolen silk sheets, we shake sweat and toss, through nightmares unending, until morning light. Then it's coffee in rush hour, and work until night. Not one pause considering the trick of the tale is this course is ungraded, there's no pass or fail.
JaeyPeele - 03/13/2010 on writing: rambling notes of a mad ...
The mind that finds chaos in order, and makes order out of chaos, is the one that understands it is not the end-all-and-be-all of the galactic universe. The unshakable belief that the cosmos is "6000 years old because that is when God made man" is at best raging solipsism, and at worst a symptom of a society with delusions of grandeur. We turn away from the Hubble Deep Field data, letting the damned thing burn up in reentry because we don't like what it implies. Mankind estimates as worthless anything that doesn't verify our opinion of ourselves as God's crowning achievement. And nobody wants to be estimated as worthless, so we go along with the "Strangers Have No Soul" doctrine that got us this far, and apply it to everything we see in a radio-telescope,or electron-microscope. So the real achievement is the thing itself, not that which it allows us to perceive. "Look at me! I have the biggest(____) in the world! That makes me best!" So we bolt about, higgledy-piggledy shouting our superiority to the stars, and scheme how we would prove it, if someone were to whisper back.

HumanBeing - 03/09/2010
I hate to think it was not a dream. Everything in me wants to believe I went insane and all of this never happened in the real world. My rational mind tells me of course you just had a psychotic break and this kind of stuff only happens in comic books or the movies. So I'll try to pretend that it didn't happen to me. The only reason I'm writing this all down is because I need to document just what it is that didn't happen to me, in case I get a visit from the Men In Black, or Men In White Coats, or other gray budget group sent to erase my personality "For My Own Safety". I'm sure that sounds completely paranoid, but this is the United States of America and people disappear all the time here. Vanish completely, or turn up dead from "Natural Causes", or "misadventure", or any of the other forensic rhetoric a coroner uses to describe what happens to some poor sap who knows to much when someone says, "Make it look like an accident." But I know who I am; James Arlington Smith, 34 years old, living in Tres Padres, New Mexico, USA. And I know what I am; a male, heterosexual, human being, homo sapiens sapiens. I'm a real person with a job as a retail clerk at a liquor store in Taos. I have a dog, Bobo, and a cat, Shreader, and friends and family that would miss me if I were to just vanish one day. I was confirmed Episcopalian, but haven't been to church since I moved out of my parents' home 15 years ago. Maybe I should join a local congregation to, you know, get right with God, or something. Still, I get the feeling no local parrish priest can help me come to grips with whatever is happening to me. I can't expect any sane person to believe me, and I don't even want to believe it myself, but here it is, to the best of my recollection.
I was in the middle of my getting ready for bed ritual. I had let Bobo in and let Shreader out and had poured a bowl of Cap'n Crunch. I set it down on the kitchen table and turned toward the fridge for the milk. It wasn't there. The milk, the fridge, the kitchen, my apartment, Tres Padres, New Mexico. All gone like changing the TV channel. Where the fridge should have been stood a little old man in a gray and green robe who said, "Are you James Smith, HumanBeing?" I looked down and saw the Taos Liquor Shoppe tee shirt and the black and blue flannel lounge pant I always wear to bed. I held my hands up to see and feel the fresh nick on the left index finger I got from opening a carton of Cutty Sark fifths earlier today. I pressed it with my thumb, and it stung like the paper cut it is. I knew I wasn't dreaming, so I answered the nice man, "Uh, yeah...It's Jim though, not James. Uh...Do I know you?" I looked around the place we were standing together and wished I hadn't, "Like from the store or something?" around a lump in my throat. He tipped a wink, cracked a smile that turned my belly cold, and said, "Yes. That is it, precisely. You know me from the store. I am Friar Fractal. Will you sit here, please?" He waved to a dark blue office chair which rolled itself over next to me as if he had asked it to be my seat. "Folks, this is the last of our invitees, HumanBeing. I know you have a lot of questions, and we have a lot of answers. Let us see if they match." I reluctantly looked up from the all too eager chair, (I never did sit in it, too creepy for my butt) and saw who the old man was addressing. Sitting, standing, and I swear to God, floating around the windowless room was the strangest looking bunch of people I have ever seen on this side of a movie screen. Dressed in silk robes, denim and sneakers, spandex skin suits, leather biker togs, Shiny metalic purple armor, slick black business attire, and some sparkley smoke-like stuff that barely covered the yummiest rack I could want to handle, there were about thirty of us all together. "Hello everybody. I am Calliope, your host here at Hellicon, and I want you all to be as comfortable as possible as we proceed into the main part of this conference, so if you would, please take the next half hour to introduce yourselves to those who you do not already know by name, help yourselves to the buffet and open bar at the rear of the hall, and rest rooms through those doors." She pointed to a set of doors right behind where I was standing, and I had needed to pee since before I poured my bowl of Cap'n Crunch, so I was the first to hit the men's room door. Actually, I have to pee again right now, and looking at the time, need to get some sleep, cause I open tomorrow. But I will come back here right after work and finish this report because, you know, someone has to.

I became Head Hacker for New Mexico cell of Underground Movement to keep monolithic bastards like the US government and Lux Cypher out of my private affairs. I stumbled upon this message in Peele's archives, and I give you the same good faith warning I gave him: "You don't tell ME what to do! You can't make me so eat poo!" Read'em and weep"Spaceman", sincerely signed, (just another) HumanBeing------
Sen t and received logs are the only way I am aware of to track and account for paradoxes in comments regarding writing of real-time novel. All entries by profiled characters have affect on Aerth. Aeonado's ESOP in Enfold Way requires ongoing documentation to energize weapons, shields, FTL propulsion, nonlocal communications, and other mission support devices. CYOA and KISS protocols should be observed to prevent FUBAR cascade. Received the following message late last night. I will be in Utah compound consulting WordWorldWar on details of paradox manifestations. :8^D
Being liason officer between Lux Cypher and USDOD, Gen. Sam LaFayette must have a profile. Magellanic Bridge is inaccessible from Aerth due to time decompression effect of Time Bomb. Strongly suggest Locke and Peele be sequestered in Magic Circle safe house for duration to prevent further paradox. Communication but no more physical encounters with action characters should be allowed. Important that you two not be associated with projected rise in civilian death toll. HumanBeing, BeingHuman, and other family members of protesters terminated at space port are seeking legal representation in class action versus Lux Cypher et al. Helicon is privately owned and operated mountain complex East of Lake Powell, Utah with access to Enfold Way. Approach with extreme caution. Provide WordWorldWar with list of names/pseudonyms in party of underground movement expected to arrive. Aeonado will provide teleportation to their Extradimensional Strategic Orbital Platform supporting First Contact Fleet. I don't know about you guys, but I'm getting out of here.

Impnow.com has agreed to the primary use of their site for re-broadcast of all real time transmissions from the Galactic Council.President Beelzebub Stygian has awarded Gunsaku the medal of honor and distinguished service award for making all this activity on earth possible.Mr. L. Mister Locke has been assigned to intelligence gathering and Big Red himself has Renewed our contract for SOULS.all fleet services have new navigational systems conversion tables for the change from mph to mpseconds. this will make coordinating the federations galactic fleet and our own ships to a new upgraded standard. miles per second was a fantastic accomplishment for the entire universe.
